R.F.K.Jr. was a candidate in the presidential election for the Libertarian party. However he is not advancing after primaries as he is not the nominee for the libertarian party. Since this change Mr. Kennedy confirmed that the Trump administration asked him to be involved at a high level. If Donald Trump is elected he is set to be working with a team on public health investigating the “toxins” behind chronic health issues in children.
The news of him potentially being in charge of this issue has raised extreme concern among many professionals. This concern comes from the track record that Mr. Kennedy has, of spreading misinformation on Health issues. During covid a social media research non-profit found that R.F.K.Jr is one of the top 12 spreaders of misinformation about covid. We saw clear evidence of this as a couple months ago as he lost a court bid to have two videos restored on youtube, because they violated rules against misinformation.
The reason Mr. Kennedy was chosen for this position could be due to his experience as the chairman and chief legal counsel of Children’s Health Defense. This may come as a relief, however it shouldn't be as this organization falsely links vaccines to autism, developmental delays and even asthma. How the organization came up with this conclusion is from using only their own research. Since they drew this conclusion the organization and him refer to vaccines as a “toxic exposure”.
R.F.K. Jr. becoming a significant figure in the United States public health is a risk for every person. Whether you believe in vaccination or not, it is still important that the public’s health is being overseen by someone who looks at the facts. There are preventable measures to stop some chronic diseases and spreading misinformation is not one of them.
